This Privacy Policy explains what information Ski Finder collects when you use ski-finders.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. Ski Finder is operated by Tim Guanci ("we," "us," or "Ski Finder").
Information we collect
- No accounts. Ski Finder does not require you to register or sign in. We do not ask for your name, email, or payment details to use the site.
- Location preference (stored on your device).If you choose a location or use "Use my current location," we store that choice in your browser's local storage so we can show distances to nearby shops. This stays on your device and is not sent to or stored by us.
- Server and usage logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. We use this for security, troubleshooting, and to operate the service.
- If you email us. When you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever information you include, which we use only to respond to you.
Cookies and affiliate tracking
Ski Finder does not set its own advertising or tracking cookies. However, when you click a link to a retailer, our affiliate network (AvantLink) and the retailer may set cookies in your browser to attribute the referral and any resulting purchase. These cookies are governed by the privacy policies of those third parties.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the site.
- To show relevant ski offers and distances based on your chosen location.
- To attribute affiliate referrals so we can earn commissions that keep the site free.
- To protect against fraud, abuse, and security issues.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We rely on a small number of service providers to run Ski Finder, including our hosting provider (Vercel), our database provider (Neon), and our affiliate network (AvantLink). When you click out to a retailer, you interact directly with that retailer under their own terms and privacy policy.
Your choices
- You can clear your stored location at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
- You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
- Most browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting, which you are free to enable.
Children's privacy
Ski Finder is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
